Circulation

BORROWERS

Circulation privileges are extended to College faculty and staff, students currently enrolled in WKCTC classes, Murray State University or University of Kentucky courses offered in Paducah, current members of the UK Alumni Association, and West Kentucky Community & Technical College District Board Members.

A library card is necessary to check out materials and to obtain the passwords to access the research databases from off-campus.

LIBRARY CARDS

To Receive a Library Card

Present a picture I.D. (driver's license) at the Circulation Desk. The first library card is free; replacement of a lost or stolen card is $1.00.

To Renew a Library Card

Bring the expired card and picture I.D. to the Circulation Desk for renewal. Library cards expire at the end of every semester. To save time, renew your card before checking out.

Use of a Library Card

Only the person whose signature is on the card may use that card to borrow materials. He/she is responsible for all materials checked out on his/her card.

LOAN PERIODS

LIMIT OF 10 ITEMS LOAN PERIOD

Reserves Loan periods vary
Sound recordings (cassettes, CD's)

Magazines, newspapers, reference, and AV materials not listed above are available for use in the Library. Any outside library use will be by special arrangements with Librarian on duty.

HOLDS

A hold may be placed on items in Paducah if the KCTCS Library Catalog "STATUS" indicates a date due. Make a print-out of the screen and take it to the Circulation Desk. Present your library card and picture identification.
A notice will be sent when the materials are available. If not picked up, the items are returned to the shelf within seven days.

RENEWALS

A current library card is required to renew materials. Items on hold for another patron cannot be renewed. If a patron has overdue fines/fees, items cannot be renewed until payment is received. Items may be renewed by any of the following methods:

  • In person--bring items to the library along with your library card.
By phone--call (270) 534-3170. We will need your library card number and the barcode number of each item you are renewing.
On-line--submit a request via the web. An e-mail address is required to confirm your request.

OVERDUES

Notices are sent as a courtesy to patrons. Two notices are sent for overdue library materials. When the second notice is generated (not when it is received), an approximate cost of the material, a processing fee, and a $5 overdue fee are charged. At this time, the patron is considered delinquent (see DELINQUENT PATRONS). When overdue materials are returned, a $5 per item overdue fee may be charged. Failure to receive a notice does not relieve a patron of the responsibility for unreturned library materials.

DELINQUENT PATRONS

Library circulation privileges suspended for patrons with overdue materials and/or unpaid fines and fees until obligations are met. Students enrolled in classes will not be admitted to classes and transcripts will not be sent until the Library is assured that all obligations have been met satisfactorily. KCTCS 4.23
